Annual Board Awards

Central Amherst Little League honored players, coaches, and board members at its annual picnic and awards ceremony on July 3rd. The following special recognitions were given:

Commitment to Coaching - This award is given to the coach who distinguishes themselves with an overall commitment to the development of young ball players through coaching. The 2024 recipient is JD White. JD has been an assistant coach and occasional head coach for over 6 years, and at times has helped coach 4 teams simultaneously. JD is encouraging to all players and works tirelessly to help individual players develop.

Community Impact Award - This award is given to someone in the CALL community who has made major impact on improving the experience for the league and our participants. This year we are pleased to give this award to Crowley Webb, represented by Jessica Carroll and Andlyn Courtney. When Central Amherst needed a logo refresh this off season, we only dreamed of having one of Buffalo’s best agencies leading the project. Through a board connection and a dedication to doing pro-bono work, Crowley Webb stepped up to the plate to help Central Amherst. Andlyn, Jessica, and Mike Taboni from Crowley worked with the Board to develop a new brand identity that really stands out, while honoring our history. Thank you so much to Crowley Webb for helping our league.

Coach of the Year - This award is given to the most outstanding coach. The 2024 recipient is Mike Osciak. The longer that Mike is involved in Central Amherst, the more we see that he creates and develops teams that are deeply talented and winning, while showing sportsmanship and passion. Mike is always prepared for his team and is thoughtful in his strategy and development. He cares about the kids and is a fun guy to be around too. Along with Coaching, Mike is dedicated to the league as the board member responsible for registration, and was instrumental in helping revive Fall Ball last season.

2024 Board Retirements
Nathan Lulek, Nate has been a coach, travel coach, commissioner, and travel coordinator. He has served the CALL board for 6 years. Thank you Nathan for your service to Central Amherst Little League.

President of the league, Chris Schiller. Chris has been involved with Central Amherst for 17 years, serving many roles including coach, commissioner, and league president. Sometimes people say leadership is about showing up, and we know Chris shows up…every single day working the grill, picking up trash around the park, checking in, raking a field, chit-chatting, greeting people, etc. But Chris’ leadership goes so much further than just being at the ballpark. Chris cares deeply for the community of Central Amherst and connects to hundreds of people around this park. We will miss Chris' smile and warm presence at CALL. Thank you for your service to Central Amherst Little League.
